...that your love may abound in knowledge and discernment

I have some issues i want to talk about and please i want your take on these issues.
1.) Some one was teaching that the new birth ie accepting Jesus as your Lord and saviour is also the same thing as being Baptised in the Holy ghost.Somehow i found that very hard to accept.I always thought that Holy ghost Baptism was distinctly different from the new birth experienc.
Please lets talk about this.I for one know that there can be no born again experience without the Holy ghost. Please your take and contibutions would be welcome.

My dear sister,
There is a great differnce between being born-again and the Baptism of the Holy Ghost. The Holy Ghost is the gift God gave to us as Garrantor after we receive Jesus as our Lord and Saviour. Although, God can baptise a person the same time he/she got saved but for others, it might take them a longer time before they open up to the Holy Ghost.
We must not forget that the work of the Holy Ghost amongst other things is to help us live a holy lifestyle. If truly being born again and the Holy Ghost Baptism are the same, all the believers who claims baptised in the Holy Ghost will be living a holy lifestyle as God demands and the church would have been rapture ready.
The liberty we have in Christ have made some people teach wrong doctrines but those who are born of the Spirit abide in the word and they also shall not be deceived.
In Acts 19, Paul asked the church in Ephesus if they received the Holy Ghost when they believed, they answered him saying, "We have not so much as heard whether there is a Holy Spirit", verse 2. They receive the Holy Ghost after Paul had laid hands on them.
God bless

Thank you maam, that is so in line with what i have been taught about the new birth but i also want to know, the work of sanctification which the Holy ghost does in the soul(mind, will and emotions)of a believer is it also a different experience cos this preacher was talking about the work of the Holy ghost inside a believer,I believe the Holy ghost baptism with the evidence of speaking in other tongues is an empowerment for service(Acts1:8).Do you also have to get an impartation for this work of sanctification?

The Holy Ghost experience (speaking) in tongues empowers the believer to do the work of the ministry. Sanctification is the act of one chosing to live a holy life by the help of the Holy Ghost who lives in us. Sanctification can be attained if we consciously desire (daily) to purify our hearts through the word, to love and to live for God. Sanctication is the evidence that proves we are no more driven by our past lifestyle and worldly desires.

There is no scripture suggesting an impartation for the work of sanctification. "God from the beginning chose you for salvation through sanctification by the Spirit and the belief in the truth"; 2 Thessalonians 2:13b.

Jesus asked the Father to sanctify the desciple by His truth which is the word of God; John 17: 18. We have to chose to abide in the word as Jesus commanded. Once we devote our lives in stydying the word, our faith in God grows, which enables us to trust Him for every good work.

When the Holy Ghost asked the church in Antioch to seperate Paul and Barnabas for the work which He had called them, they were already sanctified. The desciples prayed, laid hands on them and sent them away (mark of release) for the work they have been called to do; Acts 13:2-3.

The Holy Ghost does not force us to live a holy livestyle but He empowers us once we made up our minds to fear God and are willing to obey Him. Salvation is a choice! Sanctification is a choice! The Holy Ghost is the One helping us to live godly if we make the right choice.

Hi There!
Hope you are well!

Here are a few Words... for you to Consider...

BAPTISM OF THE SPIRIT

The final step in becoming a son of God is the baptism of the holy spirit. After a person is made sinless and pure through Christ's sacrifice, God the Father can ratify the New Covenant with them by placing his spirit within them.

Upon receiving the holy spirit, the baptized person becomes a son of God, and an eternal agreement between the person, God the Father, and Jesus Christ has been ratified and sealed. See Rom.8:16-19; Jer.31:31-33; Heb.8:8-11.

Notice what John the Baptist says about being baptized with the spirit:

"I indeed have baptized you with water: but he shall baptize you with the holy spirit" (Mk.1:8 KJV).

"And I knew him not: but he that sent me to baptize with water, the same said to me, Upon whom you shall see the spirit descending, and remaining on him, the same is he which baptizes with the holy spirit" (Jn.1:33 KJV). See also Lk.3:16; Acts 11:15-16.

It is interesting that the Greek word baptizo was used in translating John's prophecy about spirit-baptism, because the scriptures clearly show that when a person is baptized they are totally immersed in the purifying power of God's spirit, and when God's spirit merges with their spirit, it totally transforms the person into a new creation.

My Sister I know that there are 5 Baptisms for the perfecting of the Saints! ....However, know that there are some Saints that Ain't... They are:

(1) The Baptism of Water, (2) The Baptism of Faith, (3) The Baptism of Repentance, (4) The Baptism of Suffering and (5)The Baptism of the Holy Ghost!

Peace and Grace!,

I am ,by far, not an expert on the subject.....but when we get ask Jesus in our hearts the Holy Spirit comes to dwell in us as a guide and leads us as to what we are to do for Jesus ...in every choice we have to make, and to tell us to think of the consequences...
Baptism of the Holy Spirit (to me, as I have been taught) is when you go into deeper walk and level with the Lord, some speak in other tongues and are 'slain in the Spirit....I have spoken in tongues but have never been slain in the Spirit....I would not say it does not happen, just that it has never happen to me.
BUT YOU HAVE THE HOLY SPIRIT THE MOMENT YOU ARE SAVED BY HIS GRACE....
